Follies (2006)

As sculptures in a landscape follies are an exploration of space, its perception, and its use. However, through the choice of polythene bin bags and plastic shopping bags for their construction, these follies also address the more political spaces of consumerism and landfill.

The follies were constructed during a residency with 'The Centre for the Art & Design in the Environment' (CADE) at Writtle College. They are a response to the college gardens, but also refer to a wider cultural landscape.
